Ever since Serial debuted in 2014, plugging into a podcast has been the go-to option for entertaining and informative listening. I enjoy a good podcast in the car or on walks and find them much more fulfilling than a radio station (although sometimes I just need some good tunes). Podcast subjects range from journalism and news to storytelling and entertainment to sports and leisure. But the most enjoyable subjects I enjoy are all the bookish things like authors, book reviews, book recommendations and more.
If you want to dive into the world of bookish podcasts, here are my top 5 for readers:
- NPR’s Book of the Day: NPR releases these quick book podcast bites Monday through Friday. Quick, easy listens about new books and their authors.
- What Should I Read Next?: Anne Bogel interviews readers and discusses their favorite reads and offers suggestions for what they should put on their TBR lists.
- The Book Case: Charles Gibson and his daughter discuss books, interview authors, and welcome many different people in the literary world to inspire your next read.
- Totally Booked with Zibby: Bookstore owner Zibby Owens interviews authors and creators.
Do you have a favorite bookish podcast? We’d love to hear about it!
