This month’s business member highlight is Kris Norwine, an independent agent under the Supreme 1 Realty broker. Norwine found her way to real estate after a journey in education and fitness.
Norwine grew up in California, just north of Los Angeles near Santa Barbara. She received her undergraduate Art History degree from a university in San Diego. “I graduated in 2008, which as you can imagine isn’t a great time to graduate with a degree in art history,” she joked. Norwine relocated to Austin, Texas where she received her Master’s degree in Art Education in 2012. By chance, she met her husband – a fellow Californian that grew up in Santa Barbara.
Norwine didn’t expect a career in real estate though she did grow up around parents that were active in the industry. She spent several years in the fitness world as a soccer player, fitness trainer and coach before beginning to dabble in real estate part time around 2017. In 2018 real estate provided the flexibility she needed as a new mom. AJ, who started the brokerage she’s with now, provided her coaching and mentorship that allowed her to thrive in the industry.
“He started Supreme 1 with a mission and true love for the community after having grown up here,” she said. Though a smaller brokerage, they work with heart and focus on community relationships. They’re more than just someone that opens a door and helps you sign papers, they want to be a resource for the community.
Norwine emphasized the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships. “It’s all about getting to know the person and individual,” she thoughtfully mentoned. As an agent, she has brought a lot of coaching, customer service and clientele from her coaching experience into her real estate world. Knowing there’s a lot of vulnerability involved in fitness and finances, Norwine wants everyone to feel 100% comfortable working with her.
Like many people, Kris didn’t spend much time at the public library in her youth. She had a great selection at her school library and at home. However, during the Covid-19 Pandemic she found the Round Rock Public Library a wonderful escape. “I couldn’t imagine the things we were able to accomplish over the last several years as a family, if it wasn’t for the library – I’m a big fan. Big friend of the library,” she laughed.
Kris’s Favorite Books/Authors:
- Brave New World is an all-time favorite
- Alice Hoffman is a favorite author
- A Discovery of Witches was great – she just finished this with her book club that caters to busy moms.
(She’s also read over 50 books this year – nice work, Kris!)
